When this first happened and the camber and ride height were way out of spec unloaded, the dealer tried new springs and dampers. I have the pre and post spring and damper alignment readings. The dealer turned to Saab and a field engineer spoke with the dealer service manager and instructed him to swap the subframe. With the new subframe, the alignment wasn't perfect but was fairly close to the design spec. There was a very substantial shift with the new subframe.
I don't see what the service manager stood to gain/lose by telling me Saab knew of the issue with the 9-5 so I tend to believe him on that issue. A dealer rep was involved and was very pissed at me as I seemed to discover a 9-5 weakness.
Proof of subframe failure is that the sag and alignment deteriorates with load and then further deteriorates with time/miles under load. Even when unloaded and springs and dampers are replaced, the car doesn't return to the design specs.
A professional engineer who looked at the car questioned the beefiness of certain portions of the subframe. He felt the springs were significantly weak. He didn't test anything in a lab but he is an experienced MIT grad and the empirical evidence seems to support the suggestion of an engineering problem, as I have been saying all along.
