How many 9-5 Aero wagon owners are there? The statistical chances of thousands of this limited group experiencing anything are small. There are lots of reports of tire wear, camber, and damper issues on all forums.
As I stated elsewhere if one compare 200,000 Fords to 10,000 Saabs and both have 10% failure and 0.1% of those get NHTSA complaints, you get 200 Ford complaints and 10 Saab complaints. I don’t have the numbers handy, but there may not be 10,000 Aero wagons in a given year. And many people lease, don’t use the rear seat, etc. The lack of complaints is only proof of the lack of complaints.
Yes, others (several come to mind) have this same problem. Search the 9-5BB. Others on one of the European forums also report it, but the details are not fresh in my mind as to where I saw it.
The mere fact that Saab offers the load leveling option suggests that there is some inadequacy in the stock setup. It isn’t as though Saab says get the load leveling to add X pounds of payload over the door placard rating..
There are NHTSA complaints. I haven’t checked all years, but mine are on there. I’m working with NHTSA further on this, but their resources are tight and government is slow.
If you’ve got a 9-5 load yours and test it out.
