I distrust the octane numbers I posted. They don't square with the Wiki article on Octane Rating.

Wiki has research octane number (RON) for ethanol at 116, not 106, and does not state a (R+M)/2 value.

Wike puts E85 at RON 105 and does not state a (R+M)/2 value.

Notice what adding 20% gasoline to ethanol does to RON. (E85 is about 20% gasoline)

If someone has a clean source for numbers, that would help.
