re: avoiding waste heat.
I suppose the main advantage of avoiding waste heat is that it saves fuel energy off the top.
The second advantage is that you don't have to expend yet more energy to get rid of it. At speed, cooling is mainly passive, so the energy drain is low (aerodynamic drag, alternator drag, and slight pump friction). Probably not enough to worry about this year.
The thermodynamic angels should bless a cool engine. A blue sky suggestion: if the engine runs cool enough, can you get away with a smaller radiator, and using the grill space to instead cool the turbocharged air? Parallel intercoolers?
