The Great Lakes regions has received over 5 inches of rain during the past two days and I was attending a job meeting in Defiance OH today. Normally my route for this meeting is US24 in Ohio, a two lane blacktop running parallel to the Maumee River from Toledo to Defiance. This morning's drive had water over the road in a couple places and the weather just poured all day long.

Leaving the site this afternoon I was certain the road would be completely closed so an alternate route was suggested. Unfortunately I encountered two more State/US roads closed due to flooding as I kept changing my route seeking higher and drier ground. Luckily I had my Tom-Tom to suggest roads, but it is not truly real time so it never alerted me to road closures due to the flooding.

A life, real time, internet connection in the car would have been a real benefit to me today - possibly for the first time ever.

I made it home safe and dry, but I traveled on some really remote paved county roads to escape the rising water.
