put up with German arrogance insisting on not having any cup holders in the 90's. Eventually American consumers made them change their policy.
IMHO, the in-car coffee/expresso maker is coming, to the in-car cup-holder near "you." The combination of drive-train electrification (making large current draw available) and the k-cup phenomenon makes that inevitable. Refrigerated cup holder and freeze-dried soda/juice concentrate in k-cup style individual serving dry packets are next. The car's combustion and A/C condenser produce plenty fresh water; adding a reverse-osmosis water purifier is a no-brainer money maker when people get into the habit of buying their hybrid cars as backup home generators.
