it's really common. I know of someone who got 3 estimates from 3 real estate agents. she picked the one she wanted to work with. one of the other 3 is the big one in the area + essentially refused ("avoided") to show the home to their buyers... that particular agent is one of the more likeable ones around! they have tons of buyers using their agency + tons of sales + to be honest, given their size + the supply + demand situation in our area, they could probably operate in isolation, with no mls and do just fine... they seem to be able to forever push the limits on price + sell fast... it's ridiculous...
