A lot of people seem to like trotting out studies to "prove" whatever their pet view happens to be, and expect that the results will simply be accepted at face value.
I remember some years ago reading about a study which concluded that most studies are flawed, due to either conscious or unconscious manipulation of the data and results by the researchers involved, who typically were expecting or hoping for a particular outcome.
A web search using the terms "invalid study" will reveal a wealth of studies in various fields that have been found wanting. (For an extreme example, remember the studies by the tobacco companies that concluding smoking was harmless?)
