correct me if I am wrong.

If I understand correctly, your point of this discussion is that the Saab T7 software is matched to anticipated mass air flow conditions of the Saab engine. Installation of some aftermarket hardware can creat significant changes in the mass air flow, by allowing the engine to "breathe easier", and effectively places the engine control poilts ouside of the range that the standard software can adapt to.

Worst case scenario is that someone will modify their engine with goal of increasing the performance, the T7 software can't properly compensate for all the changes resulting from installation fo this HW, the engine runs lean with too little fuel for the increased air, and the engine will self destruct under extended heavy load operation conditions.

Your recommendation is to only install certain HW upgrades in conjunction with enhanced software which can properly adjust to the revised engine operating parameters. The best solution is to custom tune the car's software after each incremental addition of certain types of new HW.

What items are included on your "Extreme Caution" list? I read your responses to include: larger downpipes, and larger intercoolers. What about the turbo inlet pipe and free-air (less restrictive) inlet filters?
