One more for the MAF

SW has programmed airmass/combustion maps that it is trying to reach under WOT based on conditions, rpm ano. HW mods effect VE, this is given right? Right after HW mods, SW will still be feeding the engine based on original VE. Now as VE gets better the following will happen, cylinders are taking more air in at the same pressure, but only getting the same fuel as before.
Following me this far?
This result will lead to fuel compensation, in other words under close loop driving lambda is adjusted to one, either negative or positive fuel adaption depending on the case. Usually car runs lean if VE is better and more fuel will be added.
So before fuel adaption has taken place MAF value does not represent the airmass that is flowing into cylinders/combustion. In other words "1" is no longer 1, but something else.
By calibration point I mean the original operation point which is programmed to match stock HW in the first place.
If we contenue on this road we can state that once fuel adaption takes place the system will newer work optimally and faults like "over shooting" target airmass can enter the picture. Calibration is not adjusted, only fuel adaption and such are added to better match the systems current state. If you want to get the system back on track you will need an recalibration to match the new HW thourh out engines operation range.
I my self cant tell you much more than this, since I would only be guessing.
Enyhow do you understand the logic I trying to tell you?
