OK, so could the "steam cleaning" also be causing the racket by nature of the adiabatic expansion in the cylinder from the induction water idea you have?? Like the pistons are rattling because of the extraordinary pressure from the phase transition of the H2O? Sounds like a chemistry class now.....
One of the techs at the shop had a bunch of microphones they would string in the areas so they could listen to trace where the tommyknockers are. I'll agree with that procedure since it seems that everything we suggest had already been replaced, or double checked.
