Like what Cmyles mentioned on one of his posts, to correlate the raised casting in the aluminum to the mark on the clutch cover. Calibrate it so to speak.
Then, get your ZERO spot marked on the flywheel, and dial in timing on your light setting it at 16 and move the distributor as normal to get it to zero.
You could be indexed off 16 degrees, that would explain the knock for sure.
