performance tires tend to rise in the spring.

The test for a new chain is to pull the tensioner and measure how far out
it has extended. 11mm, I think, is the 'repair limit'.

Switching to synthetic oil is detrimental to a 'dirty' engine in which crud
and sludge are functioning as seals. 5W50 is a little broad ranged, but it
is covered by the most recent recommendations I have read (which allows for
20W50 for temperatures consistently above 60F.)
