Reduced Vent Airflow

I have a  '91 900 SPG.  Over the last few years I have replaced almost
every part of my A/C system (very expensive :-(.  This may not be unusual,
but I believe the following may have stressed the system beyond its design
and been the cause of most of the failures.

The symptom is a reduction in air flow while the A/C is operating.  It can
take 45 minutes, but typically longer (eg. 2 hours in some cases) depending
on the humidity (my guess).  The airflow continues to reduce to a meagre
breeze, even at full fan speed.  The problem is caused by the heat
exchanger in the ventilation system icing up which completely blocks the
air flow. And this is caused by a faulty temperature sensor that monitors
for this condition (I suspect - I have not repaired the problem yet).

This has been a problem on my car ever since I bought it (pre-owned).
However, since I do not typically drive more the 45 minutes unless on a
trip, and since the amount of time to ice up varies, and since it starts
working again the next time I start the car, the problem remained elusive.
Even several Saab mechanics did not mention this as a potential source of
the problem.
