Removing Motorized Side Mirrors

Scenario:

83 3 door Turbo

I have some rust spots in front of the side mirrors on the door post. I
have seen this rusting on other 900's I have had. Question is though, Is it
possible to remove the motorized mirror assemblies? I don't see how they
are attached. There is what looks like a black rivet head on the interior
triangular panel, but my fear is that if I drill this out, I wont be able
to reattach the mirrors.

If you are wondering why I want to do this, I want to sandblast the door
post.

TIA to all!! (and our moderator - Scott!)

Peter
