900 APC Shielding

Hello Again. Thank you for all the useful comments everyone has providedÊver
the last few months whileÊrying to sort an '87 900T with only base boost.
The breakthrough came last weekend. Having connected a test lamp in parallel
with the APCÊolenoid I was convinced the knock detector was involved.
However unplugging the knock detector did not change the pattern of APC
activity. The next trial was the placement ofÊ couple of pieces of
insulation tape over pins 16 & 17 on the APC box. The car then returned to
full boost, incriminating an induced signal in the knock detector cable. The
shielding in the cable appears to be intact when tested at each end with an
ohm meter. I think I recall reading on the Townsend site that insufficient
shielding could be a problem and that kits were developed to address the
problem. Are '87 900T16's known to be a problem? Does anyone know anything
about or have any experience with the neccessary repairs? Thanks once again
for your help. James
