i'd die to have to pay $75 per hour, not that we are penurious, nor that we
couldnt do it lol...

its just a repulsive idea. it took a few years, but we found two stellar
mechanics in the Buffalo, NY area (1.3 million ppl). our dealers get $75 -
82 per hour.

one is just excellent, a long time SAAB driver himself. he just raised his
rate to $50 per hour. his work is superior to all the other 8 euro shops we
have tried.

the other one is just a smart guy. he is no SAAB specialist, and he was a
bit put off at first by our SAABs, but we reassured him bc we could tell he
was careful and thoughtful and not closed minded. His business is comprised
mostly of domestic sleds, but our experience with him has sort of brought him
along. I think these people can be found more easily than the first type i
mentionned above. Particularly with a 9000, if you can find a SMART
mechanic, you can show him that the conventional wisdom of SAAB intimidation
is not well founded...and you can turn him into an asset, i think !
$59/hour.

incidentally, i think its rare to find a mechanic who can tell the trees from
the forest, u know ? i think thats why even great mechanics are not
necessarily good with diagnosing.
