Camber Alignement

Something terrible happened today - I took my 94 9000 CSE with
88k miles for front end elignement and ended up with a car
which still looks the same but drives like one of those
generic rental car vehicles with names like Camry or something.
I've driven SAAB 9000s for several years and have never experienced
anything that bad in a SAAB - steering is very light now,
it seems there is no connection between the steering wheel and the
wheels, no 'center' feel, I find myself constantly moving wheel
sideways to get any sense of the road feel. Driving fast through
winding roads is just scary.

Anyway, here are the numbers (current/previous for right wheel, left
similar):
Camber -0.3 / -1.3 (range -1.2 -0.2)
Caster 1.3 / 1.3 (range 1.2 2.2)
Toe 0.09 / 0.07 (range 0.04 0.17)
SAI 10.1 / 11 (range 10.8 11.8 - note, it's out of range now!)

The original problem was shaving right tire (inner side) at about 45deg.
The guy says 'too much negative camber' and installs a kit to
correct it. I say: what about SAI (also known as Swivel-pin inclination)?
He says - don't worry, does not matter. (BTW, my factory service
manual says camber is not ajustable, it was -1.3 -outside the range
on right wheel and -1.1 on the left.)

1. Can 1 degree of camber adjustment destroy the road feel completly?
2. Or was it SAI that did it? (or anything else?)
3. Should the camber be tempered with through this kit at all?
(independent alignement shop, not a dealer did it)
4. Is that tire edge shaving something curable on a SAAB?
What causes it? What fixes it (I also had it on my previous 9000,
did not bother to aligh it though). I've seen inner edge wear on
other FWD cars with some mileage, but never that deep cut at a sharp
angle.

thanks a lot for any help (btw, US model, used in California)

George
