I have replaced the front pads MANY times and never had this happen. If
the seals are blowing from the hydraulic pressure, maybe there is a problem
in the master cylinder - the fluid should be able to back into the
reservoir.

One is also well advised to hang a tube on the bleeder nipple and open the
bleeder while turning in the piston so the old nasty stuff from inside the
caliper goes into a jar, not back into the reservoir. Then, let the system
keep bleeding until clean new fluid is running out the line. Do this when
changing pads, and you are already half way done with your (at least)
biennial brake fluid flush. This is also a good time to renew the
emergency brake seals and add the grease of your choice into the e-brake
mechanism (see NINES 242 - shameless plug).
