Don't fool around, get it replaced! In my neck of the woods, you can get
this done for no more than $100, and it'll last about as long as the
original. If you're really inspired and cheap, go to an automotive
upholstery shop, buy the special foam-backed material, remove your
headliner, and strip off the old material. Use a rotary wire brush in an
electric drill to remove the foam 'debris' from the fiberclass backing.
Finally, use good (3M) spray contact cement on both surfaces, and glue
the new material to the fiberglass. Trim it _afterwards_, and glue the
edges around the fiberglass for a finished product. This is exactly what
the 'pros' do.
