Welcome, Alexandre. I was born in 1954, and Saab was not my first car. But
the gray 1978 Saab 99 Turbo I bought on November 30, 1978 was my first ever
NEW car. I really liked that car. It saved my wife and child when she went
off a flooded road in 1989. We bought an identical gray 1978 99 Turbo in
January 1990. It is old now, and I should give it to someone who has time
and likes to work on Saabs.

My impression of the Saab 99T, and a 1982 900T that we owned for a while, is
that they don't break often, but when they do the parts are expensive. When
they get past 20 years of age, they should go to someone who likes to work
on Saabs, and you should get another car for daily driving. We have been
driving a K2500 Chevrolet Suburban since January 1993 (bought one new, then
bought a new 1996 when the '93 was rolled in January 1996). I still
sometimes drive the old Saab, but must admit the huge 4x4 Chevrolets have
been very reliable.

Rod, Ralph Nader is a professional 'crusader' and something of a
sensationalist, not always a truthsayer. I don't know about his Canadian
equivalent. Check into the particular model that interests you. Learn what
you can about it, then learn as much of your intended car's history as you
can. Make an informed choice, based on your own research.

Good luck,

Lane
