9-5 Wagon Cargo Bars

Some of you will recall my saga last year with the multi-purpose
roof rack bars sold in the Saab Catalog. I bought them for my 99
9-5 Wagon for about $100 from the Saab Catalog. We use them with
the THULE Big Mouth bike racks as the base for hauling our bikes
around. (The Big Mouths are great because you don't have to
remove the front tire of your bike to mount it!)

To make a long story short I eventually returned the
Multi-purpose roof rack bars to Saab Catalog (within the one
year satisfaction guarantee) for a full refund.

Even though THULE manufactures the bars and clamps, you won't
find their badge on the product. In fact, the THULE USA people
were seemingly unaware of this product. Perhaps they're supplied
by THULE EUROPE.

In the meantime, I came across the THULE Model 753 load bars and
got them to replace the ones purchased from Saab Catalog. I
believe the THULE 753 bars and clamps are far superior to the
ones that THULE makes for Saab Catalog. Well, OK, the bars are
about the same, but the clamps that mount on the Wagon are a
better design.

If you are shopping for a rack system for your 9-5 Wagon, I urge
you to go to a THULE dealer and check out the 753. It's about 30
dollars more retail, but worth it.
