Re: Low Profile Radar Mount

I had just bought the then top of the line Escort back when second son was
doing the 'college tour' circuit. I decided to mount both the new and the
previous generation Escort on the 16 valve Scirocco I was then driving. One
above the other center line of the windshield.

The one mounted on top always picked up a signal first, and it didn't
matter which detector was highest. The difference was probably less than a
second, but it does support the higher is better theory. Of course the the
key probably has to be interference -- so I would be careful NOT to have
wipers in front of the antenna.

Of course, now using a V-1 I have to have the detector mounted so the rear
antenna can be seen through the hatch.

BTW, what kind (and mfg) inting material can I use that doesn't degrade the
detector performance. I guess I should avoid any metallic tint.
