As the proud owner of a new 2000 9-3S and former owner of a 1995 900S, I
would have to say that the new one is is much peppier and definitely has a
nicer clutch. I miss the quirky analog clock though. There is finally a
rear hatch open indicator and the shift light is back. With the ecoturbo,
you can actually shift when it says and still have power if you want it.
Even the light pressure turbo can glue you to the seat! The torque is
higher at lower RPM's than the 900S. My '95 and the '94 did not have the
awful reflector between the tail lights. I'm glad they got rid of it on the
9-3. Since I just bought it a few hours ago, I can't really say too much
more other than I really liked my '95 and did not have many problems with
it other than a very small transmission leak in the early days that was
fixed under warranty. Recently, the idler pulley loosened and pretty much
moved the serpentine belt so that the car would not run. It had 95K on it
when it gave its all to save me when I had a collision 2 weeks ago that I
could not avoid. The air bags did their thing and I just opened the door nd
walked out. The front end was pretty well crushed in. I had a couple of
scratches on my arms and chin from the air bag, which is normal, and I
could not hear very well for a couple of days out of one ear from the
exploding sound of the air bag.

2000 Frost Gray 9-3S 126 mi.
