Toll Transponder - EZ-Pass

We just got our transponders (BTW, the Pennsylvania Turnpike has 
lousy EZ-Pass signup terms compared to other agencies like the 
Delaware River Port Authority), and I have a suspicion that the 
standard mounting location isn't going to work for Kirsten.

The instructions say to mount the transponder at the top center of 
the windshield, one inch from the top.  Right there (at least on 
Leif), the tag is almost completely out of the driver's vision behind 
the mirror.

However, the instructions say that windshield mounting will not work 
on 9000s from 1995 forward, because of tinted glass.  Our 1994 has 
some kind of opaque coating on the top inside surface of the 
windshield.  It's about an inch from the top, except in the area of 
the mirror, where it covers exactly where they want you to put the 
transponder.

Has anyone mounted such a tag in a 1994 with this windshield and did 
it work?  If it didn't work, where did you put the tag?

So far, no response from Saab USA.
