New Clutch or Not & Double Clutching

'92 SAAB 9000, standard, ~112K miles
So I guess this is more of a general car question than a SAAB question, but
I'd like to know if any of you can offer some insight into when I should bite
the financial bullet and get a new clutch put in. I bought my car used about
7K miles ago, and as far as I know, the clutch is still the original.
I haven't been having any problems, but I know that if I just wait for the
clutch to die, it'll be far worse for the car and my wallet.

So are there any tell-tale signs for imminent clutch death? And what kind of
life can I expect from my clutch (isn't 112K a lot for the original?)

Oh, and as a side note, any opinions on double-clutching? I've been trying to
pick up the technique recently (with no such luck...especially since my tach
doesn't work in cold weather.... i'll probably have to wait until it warms up
anyway). Is it good/bad for the car?

Thanks for the help from a SAAB/stick shift newbie,
-Yoni Kurland
