Hi, I'm the original poster of this thread. Thanks for everyone's
input, and sorry for my slow response. I'm actually currently out of
the country and so not much has happened since I left the States about
3 weeks ago.

Just before I left, I did, following some advice, tried to hook the
stereo up on my own. I ordered a harness from an online store and was
reassured that all I needed for the SAAB 9000CS was a wiring harness.
Well, when the harness came, it wasn't even close in form to what was
inside the car. Perhaps one of the previous owners had fiddled around
with the inside, but that's kinda strange because the Radio that's in
there is a SAAB standard stereo.

Anyway, I went ahead and began matching up the wires myself. I looked
at the color code that Chad posted for me on this list and followed
it...almost everything found a match except for a few weird ones....for
example, there should only be one Red wire carrying the 12V but there
actually were two red wires in the SAAB. I figured one was the 12V and
the other something else (I think it turned out to be the 12V Memory
since the SAAB was missing a Grey wire) so I fiddled around with the
wiring.

At the end, I got the stereo to turn on and the antenna went up and the
radio seems to be tuning in to all the stations...everything looked
fine, except... yup, that's right, no sound at all.

There was another wire that was actually MISSING on the stereo
side...that's the ''Amplifier Remote Start' wire....the yellow wire was
in the SAAB but not in the stereo I bought.

This is when I remembered something about the SAAB having an AMP that I
may need to BYPASS (according to the Best Buy guy), as the stereo I
bought had an internal AMP! I'm guessing that's what it is... Without
the Remote Start signal coming in, the Amp underneath the passenger
seat isn't turning on, hence no sound. Even if I could get the amp to
turn on, I'm guessing the sound level would be too loud or something.

So that's where I am at right now. I really want to use this unit
because it's the only one at Best Buy that had everything I wanted---CD
player, Radio, MP3 play, AND an AUX-IN jack (for my iPod/MP3 player).
Maybe I'll try to do the BYPASS thingy but I'm not quite sure how to go
about it...I took a peek underneath the passenger seat and could see
what seems to be the AMP and some wires coming in and out, but don't
know where to begin. I would appreciate it very much if someone can
provide further input on this front....or, perhaps I should just take
it into a shop and cough up the cash to get a pro to do it.... ;-p

Anyway, thanks again to those that replied, both on the list and
personally. I look forward to hearing more on this issue.

Sincerely,

Satoru Murata
