Headlight Lamps

I have a '92 9000 Turbo. Two or three weeks ago the front passenger side
headlight burned out and so I replaced it. Well, a few days ago the driver
side headlight burned out. When I took the old lamp out, I noticed that it
had completely blown and all that was left was a tiny bit or glass and the
coils that are the actual light. I really didn't think anything of it until
the next day when the brand-new lamp that I had bought and installed blew.
When I pulled it out, it looked like the one that it replaced. My question
is this: what's causing these lamps to explode? I haven't touched the actual
lamp (being in theatre I know that fingerprints can be the kiss of death to
lamps) so unless they were mishandled when they were packaged that's not a
real factor. Might it be that I have a short somewhere? Could it be a fuse
problem? The headlight itself does have a small crack in it and there is
some moisture inside the headlight but it's been that way since I bought the
car at the beginning of the year and this is the first problem I'm had with
the headlight going out.
