I've watched the exhaust while my step-dad revved the engine in the driveway
and there was no smoke or steam, but it won't build any boost in neutral.
I've also watched the rearview mirror while on the highway, both during the
day, and at night, when any vapors would be backlit by the headlights behind
me, and everything looks good at that end.

It doesn't pump oil out the dipstick tube at idle, in neutral, but there's
lots of oil to be mopped up in that area every time I stop to check the oil.
I've also seen smoke come from the dipstick tube at idle with the dipstick
in place, but only occasionally. If I drive on the highway with the windows
down it sucks smoke inside the car through the vents. I've never tried
pulling the dipstick while the engine's running, but I don't think the
dipstick is making an airtight seal anyway.
