I like my 9000 even more than the '86 900 I drove 250,000 miles but with
155,000 miles I have been told that I am faced with a lot of expensive
repairs soon.  Auto Transmission ($3000), timing chain ($1500), ignition
system(????), and a lot of expensive computer systems.  I was heading
from NH to Va last week and was advised by the local mechanic not to
take my Saab; there is a whine in the transmission (more noticeable when
idling) and the 'check engine' light had come on indicating something
with the fuel.  He replace all the vacuum hoses and it seems OK for
now.  I have lost faith in my Saab and don't know whether to run it for
a while and fix things as they go or to dump it and get a different and
less complicated car (like the old 900's)

I don't want to get into a situation of dumping good money after bad.
The car has been essentially trouble free for 150,000 miles and I have
done the oil and filter every 3000 and the transmission filter and
change every 10,000.  Other than that it has just required brakes and
mufflers.  Most of this work I do myself.

Does anyone have any advice?
