We have a similar occurence when it rains or snows and then freezes. We
take our key and push down on the rubber piece at the top of the door
about every two inches or so. This breaks the seal and the door then
opens much more easily. The black rubber is very flexible and will retain
the flexibility down to below at least -15 F, so even in the very cold
you will not hurt it. Hope this helps.
