I experienced a lock that wouldn't close. I dismounted the 3 screws
that hold the mechanism against the door panel end and took it
indoors to dry. I then applied a coating of regular grease on all
sliding surfaces to keep the moisture out. Fact is, that grease will
keep moisture out of a dry surface but won't remove the moisture so
it has to be dried beforehand. The 9000 locks have fairly large
contact surfaces which are likely to bind if there is water between
that freezes up. The lock mechanism is outside the door so water
gets in quite easily.
