On the C900 the spring must be compressed to replace the upper control arm
bushings. I have typically replaced bushings as part of a bigger job that
involved taking the control arm out of the car, but I imagine you can do it
in the car once you get a spring compressor on and get the tension off the
bushings (be extremely, extremely careful with this - there's a whole lot of
energy in a compressed spring and the thing can hurt/kill you if it gets
loose! ). Getting the old bushing off of the rear end of the shaft may be
tricky; the bushings have metal sleeves in them and they tend to grow fast
to the shaft necessitating cutting wheels, torches, four-letter words, etc.
to get them off. (hint: lube up the new ones with never-sieze when you put
them on!) You will need a press to push the old bushings out of the
aluminum brackets and to push the new ones in, and, of course, when all is
done you will need a front end alignment. Good Luck!
