Plastic Lens Repair

I'm cleaning up and repainting the grille and headlight bezels on my '86 900T
and need some advice. The parking light lenses had been leaking and crud had
accumulated on the inside. The lenses were easy enough to pop off, allowing
me to clean everything up and use some 'chrome' paint on the reflectors.
Does anyone know what kind of glue to use to re-attach the lenses? I'm sure
the original was something similar to what I used on model cars as a kid,
based on the squashed interface between the lenses and bezels. Has anyone
tried RTV or any other flexible adhesive? It ought to hold pretty well and
may just prevent future leaks. Any comments?
