Do double check the hose connections, but dripping out the 'weep hole' is
the primary indication of the need for a new water pump.

The 9000 water pump arrangement, unlike those on the C900, conforms to
usual practice in both the location and the procedure to R&R the pump. BUT
(there is always a but) with the wheel housing shields out and the
serpentine belt removed, this is also the time to check the idler pulleys,
the belt itself, the crank pulley (aka harmonic balancer), and per Chuck
Andrews recommendation in NINES #239 (shameless plug), the oil pump/crank
pulley woodruff key. THIS is the mark of a 'professional' repair, the
knowledge of what other parts *might* be trouble which are in the same
vicinity and which are easy to check at the same time, and which actually
do get checked. One should also consider changing some (or all) the hoses
at the same time - especially the ones which attach to the water pump. Ask
yourself whether they will survive as long as the new water pump.

You can purchase the *transmission* part of the factory manual and that
will be very helpful for replacing the transmission.

The 9000 is designed for the transmission to come out the bottom of the car
with the engine remaining in place. It is necessary to obtain or fabricate
tooling to support the back end of the engine during the removal.

You would be safe using any *newer* transmission. Especially if this is a
Turbo, the '91 on engines have a lot more power and torque than the earlier
ones.
