Re: Roof Racks

The racks tighten and loosen by means of a threaded knob at one end of the
rail (very simple and effective). The closed and locked doors make the rack
safe from theft, even if the knobs were loosened (they are square, like the
rack and not easily noticed by a potential thief).

Thule doesn't list them in their catalog, only a generic gutterless
'lay-on-the-painted-roof-and-scratch-it-all-up' model that costs much more
(how about that for a change?) than the Saab part and is vastly inferior in
the mounting setup and security. I can't believe how many Saabs I see with
the generic Thule racks instead of the proper Thule/Saab parts. I've had
three of them and all have functioned perfectly with a variety of Thule
modules, as well as Rocky Mounts bike racks, a less expensive alternative
to Thule or Yakima modules that fit either rack perfectly.
