8 Valve Chain Tensioner

Could someone please tell me what the maximum extension is for an 8 valve 
single cam 900 (1987) timing chain tensioner. The tensioner in question is 
the 'new' style referred to in the Haynes/Bentley manuals for 8 valve engines.

Previous messages refer to 11mm as the maximum but I am unsure whether this 
length is for tensioners in  16 valve double cam engines only or for all 
Saab 900 engines.

I am in the process of replacing my engine and want to make sure everything 
that needs to be replaced is replaced before the 'new engine' goes in - eg 
head gasket, main seal, timing chain, water pump.

The measurement is 12.5mm as is - which would suggest that the chain may 
need replacing. Bentley advises that if you cannot line up all the timing 
marks then the chain may need replacing (I am assuming the timing mark on 
the flywheel end is marked on the engine block itself and not on the 
plastic flywheel cover). If I am measuring correctly then the 
timing  marks  ore out by a few mm.
