This exact thing happened to our car while it was under 2 years of age.
Except it was the 'ignition amplifier' relay in our '87 900S.
To fix, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY (just the '-' side will do), remove the few
screws holding the fuse panel in place. Carefully lift the (rats nest)
mess of wires that come up with this. Try to locate the one that has been
pushed into the wiring area. Get a small knife or screwdriver and pry the
'catch' piece of the fast-on connector SLIGHTLY outward, so that it will
positively click/engage when you reinsert it into its proper hole.
Reassemble and connect battery. Tell your S.O. that you've just saved over
$100 at Saab Service!
