9-5 Gas & Phone

Two questions regarding my 2001 9-5. I'd like to know what octane
gasoline people are running in these (non-aero model). The dealer
suggested 89 (mid-grade), the cd tour that came with the car suggests
high octane, and the manual gives a range. I have always run hi-octane
in my other Saab turbos.
Does anyone have experience with hooking an existing (Motorola) cell
phone into the car's integrated microphone and speaker system? According
to the head mechanic you could do it on the 1999 and 2000 models but not
on the 2001. Anyone know otherwise. I hate to go installing a redundant
system when the car has one built in and I hate to subscribe to the
On-star phone service when I already pay for monthly cell service and
have a number people know
