The 9X is a unique concept car and, if produced, will not be shared by
Cadillac. Plans for Saab to co-produce a large 'crossover' 4X4 with
Cadillac have been under study, but cooler heads have prevailed and that
project has been discontinued. The reason was GM's refusal to 'badge
engineer' a Saab and calculations that a true Saab version would not be
profitable, due to the cost of engineering and the delay in introduction.

The 9X was a built-from-scratch concept vehicle showing off Saab Design's
talents and imagination. It was never intended to be a 'peek' at a
specific future model. That said, studies are under way to make a
'business case' for the 9X as a limited production 'halo' car, much like
the 'Dodge Viper'. The 9-3X was openly described at its introduction as
bearing a strong resemblance to the upcoming 9-3 'small crossover', a
product that is solidly in Saab's current production plan.

You can read more about the New 9-3, including the current schedule for
introduction of variants, major standard and optional equipment packages,
and Saab's marketing goals and rationale in NINES #258 (July/August). see
