Re: Rear Shocks Bump

It is my experience that aftermarket 'performance' (koni, Kyb, Bilstien,
Tokiko) shocks generally increase ride harshness from stock. When I have to
replace mine on my '92 900T, I will get stock replacement from sachs as I do
not want increased ride harshness. The last experience was with a Mazda
626T. The struts were shot. I ordered Tokiko's base model non adjustable as
I was told that this was 'softer' than the adjustable. The resultant ride
was much choppier. What they generally do is make the low speed performance
of the shock harder so that the kid racer market thinks that they have a
tangible improvement. Any of these companies cannot spend nearly as much
development time on shocks as the OEM in any case. As the development is
mostly subjective and unpredictable without installing on a car, I would
always put OEM shocks on if I want to maintain OEM ride and handling.
