The 'rather tedious procedure' involves:
A) draining the existing oil, puring in one quart of the SaabSyntheticStuff
(SSS),
B) driving around a little bit, then draining and filling to the correct
level.
C) Finally, special plugs are installed to properly identify that SSS is in
use.
But Consider This: ATF is an approved 'emergency fill'. Logic would
dictate, then that ATF might be suitable for step A. Or even useful as a
preluce to step A, if one wanted to be 'super safe'.

I question whether SSS is relabeled RedLine MTL. SSS is boldly declared to
be incompatible with motor oil, while MTL is claimed to be completely
compatible with motor oil.
