Sounds like the release point is lower than original, so you are pulling
the shifter a bit before the clutch is fully disengaged. I get this
occasionally when I shift in a hurry.

It may be that there is a bit of air in the system, hence the low release
point. Take it back to the mechanic who changed it, and have them fully
pressure-bleed the system.
