Computer Clock Reset

I thought I had seen a discussion a while back about this, but I couldn't
find it in the archives, so I apologize if this is a repeat of a silly
question -- after a transmission rebuild on my '93 9000 Aero, having had
the battery disconnected, the digital clock now displays in 24 hr mode.
The owner's manual suggests that pushing and holding the appropriate 3
buttons on the computer display simultaneously will reset the clock mode as
well as change the mileage and the temperature displays. It resets the
clock to 00:00, and the temperature then displays in celsius, and the
mileage related items switch to kilometers, but the clock stays in military
time. I switch back to miles and farhenheit, but the clock still stays in
military mode. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

'86 900 SPG (bought at 80k, sold at 150k miles - I miss it)
'95 900 S (sold at end of lease - wife drove it, I still prefer the orginal
900)
'93 9000 Aero (113k miles, rebuilt Saab transmission, new clutch and master
cylinder -- great car)
'96 Volvo 850 GLT Wagon (not bad for hauling the family around)
