On page B1 of the Wednesday, May 22, 2002 Wall Street Journal is an 
article about spy photographs of pre-production automobiles, and the 
photo shows a Cadillac 4x4 with its back end obscured by padding.  Does 
anyone know if this is the 2003 Cadillac XLR that Mark LaNeve of GM 
mentioned in his speech at the 2001 International Frankfurt Motor Show?

If so, is this to be Cadillac's version of what Saab might release a 
year or so thereafter as the 9x?  My understanding was that Cadillac 
would release their car first, and then Saab would follow, with a 
tightening of brand identification (and shared North American 
dealerships) between Cadillac and Saab.

makes it seem to me like the 9-3x has been given the go-ahead by Bob 
Lutz and is slated for release, whereas the 9x has not been as yet 
okayed.  Does anyone have any more definitive information that can 
correct my (mis)impressions?
