Automatic Idle Control Valve

I recently had a problem when the outside temperature fell below 20
degrees F in that my 86 900S would self adjust it's idle to 2500 rpm.
Not good. The resistance across the AIC terminals was within spec.

When the idle was at 2500, smacking the solenoid with a screwdriver
handle would return the idle to normal for a short while.

I replaced the AIC with a new one and performed an autopsy on the failed
part. It seems that air was leaking past the O-ring that seals the
solenoid can to the valve body. There is enough clearance between the
armature end and the valve to cause an air leak.

If the problem happens again, I will probably try to seal the can with
good ol' RTV before shelling out the $150 plus for a new valve.
