This posting asks in part for an explanation to why the information readout
always is on the temperature option when the car is first started on a '96
900. I believe the owner's manual states (or am I imagining this?) that
when the temperature gets to near or below freezing, the display will
revert to temperature to remind or warn the driver of possible low traction
(ice) conditions. You ask why you need to be reminded of icy conditions
when you have 20/20 vision? Sometimes ice forms on pavement and you can't
see it (called black ice). I personally like this display mode, and wonder
why someone would want it to be different. If you think that this is a
nuisance, what'cha going do when there is a serious breakdown (God forbid)
of the beloved SAAB?
Your SAAB fiend,
Stan
presently '96 900S that RUNS WELL!
