I tried the 'hidden warrenty' approach for my '86 and '87.   The dealer
knew nothing about it, and emails to Saab USA went unanswered.

The last time I asked one of my dealers for a free replacement, their
service dept. told me that they're no longer offering this service.  He
said I could purchase one and have them install it.

I would recommend you be there if/when they do it.  The gent that did my
'87 900S said that all he had to do was pry it off carefully, and pop the
new one in.  He then proceded to pry it, and a small piece of paint popped
off the hood on the opposite that he was lifting.  Needless to say I was
not impressed.  If I had known previously, I would have pre-drilled the
underside of the hood to push it up from underneath.... This was back in
1992...

I read years ago that Saab had issued another bulletin officially ending
the emblem replacement program.
