Um, no. The pre-'88 900 brakes are of a 'fixed caliper' design, both front
and rear.

The rears are easy to understand, since there are no moving parts other than
the pistons and pads, i.e. there are two direct pistons, each pushing a pad
at the rotor.

The fronts are somewhat misleading, since there is a floating component in
them. The caliper is still 'fixed', in that the caliper body is firmly
bolted to the hub and does not move. The direct piston pushes towards the
inside of the rotor, while the indirect piston pushes on the outside of the
rotor by means of the sliding yoke.

I remember when John Moss recently held one of these yokes in his hand and
said something like: 'I look at this, and think, what the hell were they
thinking !', followed by 'Must have been the cheapest thing Girling had at
the time...'

9k (and '88+ C900) brakes are all floating caliper designs, front and rear.
Slider pins are bolted to the hub (or the pad carrier that is itself bolted
to the hub), on which the caliper slides so that it's single piston can
simultaneously push and pull on the inside and outside pads respectively.
Excellent compact design, that eliminates the need for 'deep' rotors, and is
used by practically ALL passenger cars, vans and light trucks today in
single, double, or multiple piston configurations.
