Sticky Clutch

1984 C900 Turbo

A while back, the clutch slave cylinder blew apart - We had it replaced
by a certified Saab mechanic who also checked the clutch disk, pressure
plate and throwout bearing (which were replaced about a year or so ago
and are of the 'new and improved' style)...

Everything was going great until recently when the wife reported that the
clutch pedal is 'sticking' - Most noticeably in First gear - When we try
to get going from a stop in 1st, it sometimes won't disengage the clutch
until the last moment and 'pops' the car forward causing it to lurch as
if we don't know how to drive a stick... It seems to be getting
progressively worse and it feels like there is a little 'slop' or 'play'
in the clutch before it disengages...

I've checked the pedal and linkage. The pedal is fine - no damage to any
of the bracketry and such and no binding of any kind is going on with the
linkage... I think I can safely rule out the pedal and linkage...

This just leaves the master cylinder... Can a faulty clutch master
cylinder cause this problem? If it's just 'sticky', is there any way to
'unstick' it rather than having to buy a new master cylinder?

Thanks!
